A few upcoming films to release in 2022-2023

25. Hawkeye – Series – Wednesday November 24, 2021

This series, which will premiere on Disney+, will focus heavily on the comic, or so it has been reported so far. It will star Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop.

24. Spider-Man: No Way Home – Movie – Friday December 17, 2021

By now most of us have seen the preview for what is sure to be an exciting third installment of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man which will be released in theatres. This one features some enemies from past takes on the Spidey story, such as the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, and Electro, with Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx reprising their roles. Benedict Cumberbatch will make an appearance as his Doctor Strange, but the tea is Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are rumored to return in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2.

23. Ms. Marvel – Series – Late 2021

This series dropping on Disney+ will introduce Iman Vellani into the Marvel cinematic universe and will also pave the way for The Marvels due out in 2023.

24. Peacemaker – Series – Thursday, January 13, 2022

This series will premiere on HBO Max and I could not be more excited. John Cena reprises his assassin role from 2021 smash hit film The Suicide Squad in his first outing as a showrunner.

23. Morbius – Movie – Friday, January 28, 2022

This anticipated Spider-Man universe film will release in theatres and stars Oscar winner Jared Leto. Leto plays Mike Morbius, a scientist who attempts to cure himself of a rare blood disorder and instead imbues himself with vampiric abilities. We may see some glimpses of some Spider-Man characters such as Venom, Peter Parker, Carnage, and possibly Vulture. Michael Keaton’s exact role has yet to be confirmed.

22. The Batman – Movie – Friday, March 4, 2022

The trailer for this film due out in theatres in March broke the internet (not really) for a few minutes, giving audiences our first decent look at Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader. The trailer looked dark and edgy, but I’m not crazy about the emo looking haircut Robert is seen with in his scenes as Bruce. The cast also includes Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle (Catwoman for you non-Bat speaking fans), Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as Penguin. There are two sequels planned at this time.

21. Naomi – Series – Sunday, May 1, 2022

This series will premiere on the CW features Kaci Walfall from Army Wives as Naomi McDuffe, a comic book loving, honors class high school student, whose powers are unleashed after a supernatural event in her hometown.

20. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – Movie – Friday, May 6, 2022

Sam Raimi directs this sequel to Doctor Strange starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Doctor Strange and Wong appear in this film as usual, but Elizabeth Olsen is on the cast list and it is curious as to what she may add to this story after the events of WandaVision.

19. DC League of Super-Pets – Movie – Friday, May 20, 2022

This animated film will release in theatres and reunites Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart voicing two canines: Krypto the Superdog, Superman’s canine companion and Ace the Bathound, Batman and Robin’s sometimes sidekick. Famous cast names also include Kate McKinnon, John Krasinski, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, and Keanu Reeves.

18. Thor: Love and Thunder – Movie – Friday, July 8, 2022

This Marvel installment is exciting, not only because it follows Infinity War where the Guardians of the Galaxy rescued the Asgardian god. It is unsure if any of them will make an appearance but we’re mainly excited to see the return of Natalie Portman as she returns to the MCU in goddess form.

17. Black Adam – Movie – Friday, July 29, 2022

Dwayne Johnson adds to his list of DC films, as Black Adam, Shazam’s mortal enemy. The Justice Society of America will include Pierce Brosnan, Aldis Hodge, Quintessa Swindell, and Noah Centineo.

16. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 – Movie – Friday, October 7, 2022

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller returned to pen the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which was my favorite Spider-Man installment yet. This film will release in theatres and returns many famous voice such as Oscar Isaac, Shameik Moore, and Hailee Steinfeld.

15. The Flash – Movie – Friday, November 4, 2022

Ezra Miller reprises his TV series role of The Flash and also teams up with Batman and The Batman? That’s correct, Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton are both signed on to play different versions of the Bat in this film due in theatres in November.

14. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – Movie – Friday, November 11, 2022

The sequel to one of the most famous MCU films, will be released in theatres and is said to be imbued with the spirit of the late Chadwick Boseman and his character T’Challa and will focus on the world of Wakanda and the characters from the first film. Nakia, Shuri, or Okoye are all speculated to be the next leader of Wakanda, but with a reincarnated Killmonger, played by Michael B. Jordan, that may not be the case.

13. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom – Movie – Thursday, December 16, 2022

DCEU’s biggest breakout success returns Jason Momoa to the main screen as Aquaman facing off against Black Manta, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. In the post credit scene of the first movie, Stephen Shin discovers the badly injured Black Manta. It is possible that Aqualad, Black Manta’s son, may join his father in the rematch against the King of the Seven Seas in theatres in December.

12. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special – 40 min short film – December 2022

This short film by James Gunn, may seem like a random idea but will reportedly bridge a gap between Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians 3. This might make it a necessary watch on Disney +.

11. Moon Knight – Series – 2022

This series written by The Umbrella Academy co-creator, Jeremy Slater, will release on Disney + on an unconfirmed date in 2022. Oscar Isaac stars as Moon Knight, a mercenary turned crime fighter after getting powers from an Egyptian god. Oh yeah and he has a dissociative identity disorder.

10. Superman and Lois Season 2 – Series – 2022

This 3rd season looking into the life of the world’s most famous butler, Aflred Pennyworth in 1960s London, will release on HBO Max in 2022. We’ve learned before his was the Dark Knight’s butler, he was a badass soldier of British SAS and stars Jack Bannon as Alfred.

7. The Sandman – Series – Late 2021

Neil Gaiman’s comic series comes to life in Netlfix’s upcoming series, The Sandman. Tom Sturridge stars as the King of Dreams, alongside, Game of Thrones veteran, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer. The series focuses on Dream, one of seven immortal beings which are personifications of aspects of life.

6. The Marvels – Movie – Early 2023

This film was originally set for November of 2021 but due to COVID restrictions most films were pushed back a little bit. Brie Larson reprises her role as Captain Marvel, and will be joined by WandaVision’s Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel.

5. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – Movie – Thursday, May 5, 2023

The third installment of the GOG in the MCU brings back many characters we have come to love, however, we are most likely looking at the last installment containing this crew. James Gunn has made it clear this is his last GOG film and Dave Bautista said he will not be playing Drax after Vol. 3 due in theatres on Thursday, May 5, 2023.

4. Shazam! Fury of the Gods – Movie – Friday, June 2, 2023
