Midnight Mass and Haunting Creator adapting Poe’s Fall of the House of Usher.

Director/writer Mike Flanagan, who has built quite a name for himself in the horror world, is now embarking on possibly his most intriguing project yet!

Flanagan has created hit series such as Netflix’s anthology The Haunting and recently released Midnight Mass, and now he is set to adapt Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Fall of the House of Usher”. Currently there is not a release date but here are some things we do know:

One of the writers will be Justina Ireland, author of YA zombie novel Dread Nation and its sequel, Deathless Divide.

There will be eight parts to this limited series and will be based on some of Poe’s most famous works. Those of us who are fans of Poe’s works know “The Fall of the House of Usher” is a short story and could possibly be just one of the eight parts. The exact plot is not known at this time.

The series is obviously not connected to any of Flanagan’s previous series and this should be treated as a standalone series. Flanagan’s previous work includes: The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, and Doctor Sleep.

Halloween Ends (2022)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10665342/

That’s right you read that right, 2022. In July 2019, the dates of the next two installments were announced. Halloween Kills on Oct 16, 2020 and Halloween Ends on October 15, 2021. Obviously due to COVID-19 impacts, the release was delayed for both films.

This film is said to be the last installment in the Myers/Laurie Strode saga films but we’ve heard that before. My question is releasing the dates of the films on the same day, may have been bold. Going into this film knowing there will be another after with both Michael and Laurie, leaves little surprise for the fate of the two in Halloween Kills, though it doesn’t seem to have slowed the enthusiasm.

Since spoiler free is the backbone of my reviewing process, I felt I should pose the question, should they have waited to announce the dates for Halloween Ends?
